Pricing & billing policy

This page explains how you are charged: what a plan includes, what counts as going over, and how you pay. Your signed Order Form is the final word on your price. Nothing here is a surprise line item.

Your plan

Ember, Beacon and Horizon each include a monthly number of published articles and an amount of storage, sized to a small, growing or established newsroom. AI classification is included with every article, so there is no separate AI meter to watch. Plans with AI writing assist and photo-card captions include a monthly number of each. Prices are listed in US dollars per month and shown in your local currency at an approximate rate. The price on your signed Order Form, in the currency you pay in, is the price you pay.

A custom package

If a fixed plan is not the right size, we price the services you need together, and you see the total before you sign. Choose "Custom" when you request a meeting.

How it works

• You choose a plan and request a meeting. Nothing is charged at this stage.
• We meet, talk through what you need, and agree a plan and an Order Form together.
• A deposit is due when you sign. We start work after we receive it.
• Your subscription starts on the day your site goes live, and is invoiced in advance for the period you choose: monthly, every three months, every six months or yearly.

Going over your plan

Going over an included allowance never takes your site down. Extra use is added as a separate, itemised line on the next invoice, priced in US dollars and invoiced in your currency:

• Extra articles published: US$0.02 per article beyond your plan's monthly limit.
• Extra storage: US$0.75 per GB beyond your plan's storage limit, per month.
• AI: classification is covered by the article price. When a plan's monthly writing-assist or caption count runs out, those tools pause until the next month, and nothing is charged. You can instead buy another block for the rest of the month: 100 writing assists US$0.60, 100 photo-card captions US$0.80, or 100 extra articles with AI classification US$0.80. If you ask us to keep AI running past the count, each extra use is US$0.01.

Extra use is priced above what it costs us to provide, on purpose. If you regularly go over, moving up a plan costs you less than paying extra use, and we would rather you did that. If your usage has outgrown your plan, tell us and we will move you up.

Invoices and your currency

We invoice in the currency you live and pay in. Your Order Form states the exchange rate, fixed on the day you sign, and we use it for the whole term. Extra use is shown in US dollars and in your currency, so you can check the conversion.

How you pay

Payment is by bank transfer against an invoice. We do not publish our bank details. We send them by email, on request, from our official address. We never change bank details by chat or phone. If you receive different details from anyone, do not pay until you have confirmed them with us.

When prices change

Our prices depend on services we buy in, chiefly AI models and hosting. If one of those costs changes, we may change your plan's price or its extra-use rates. We will tell you at least 90 days before a new price applies, and you can cancel before it does.
